Dear readers,
We are pleased to share with you the latest project activities, which focus on sustainable development and environmentally conscious living. In all partner countries, we have been actively involved in various initiatives to strengthen our commitment to environmental protection.
🇸🇰 Slovakia: Plastic-Free Month and Interactive Learning
The Slovak partner school took part in the campaign “March – Plastic-Free Month.” Students watched educational videos about the harmful effects of plastics and deepened their knowledge through online quizzes and games.
As part of the sustainability initiative, they visited a zero-waste store, where they were able to purchase various food products and cleaning supplies using their own containers. The initiative was further promoted through TikTok videos and podcasts in order to reach a wider audience.
🇮🇹 Italy: Meeting with the WWF President and Clean-Up Action
The Italian partner school had the honor of welcoming the President of WWF Sicily, Prof. Giuseppe Mazzotta. He spoke with the students about the importance of environmental protection and a sustainable future.
Following the meeting, the students actively participated in a clean-up campaign, during which they collected and sorted waste into different categories.
At the end of the day, the school principal, Maria Paola Raia, praised the students’ commitment and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in raising awareness about sustainability.
🇬🇷 Greece: Geopark, Recycling Artworks and Sustainability Research
The Greek partner school carried out numerous creative and research-based projects on the topic of sustainability:
- development of a board game made from recycled materials, focusing on sustainable development and environmental protection,
- visit to the Meteora Geopark to explore local flora and fauna and to study the importance of nature conservation,
- art projects on medicinal herbs and their use in everyday life,
- a fashion show featuring clothing made from recycled materials, as well as a composting seminar led by an agricultural scientist from the University of Athens,
- participation in an international sustainability network promoting collaboration between schools.
🇭🇺 Hungary: Research, Film Club and a More Sustainable School
The Hungarian school continued its research work, in which students examined companies taking significant steps toward environmental sustainability. The results were presented through presentations, with particular focus on companies such as LEGO and MICHELIN.
Our film club was relaunched with a new group of students, giving new members the opportunity to engage with environmentally themed films.
The teaching staff was also actively involved: they participated in a nature hike in Kerekkő, in the Zemplén Mountains, organized and led by one of our colleagues.
In addition, we launched the competition “Greener School, Better School”, in which our students contribute ideas to improve the sustainability of our school. The teaching team is currently planning the redesign of classrooms, including wall painting, new flooring, furniture, wall decorations, and curtains.
Conclusion
These projects demonstrate that both individual and collective initiatives are equally important for a sustainable future. We are proud of our students and teachers, who are actively working toward a greener and more sustainable world.
Stay tuned for the next newsletter, where we will share more exciting projects!
