4th Erasmus Day — A Day Dedicated to Life, Creativity, and Emotion
Today’s journey began with bright smiles and a sense of eager anticipation, as students and teachers gathered at school, ready to embark on yet another remarkable experience — one where knowledge meets action and theory is transformed into meaningful practice with lasting impact.
The first stop on our itinerary was the Erasmus Park, located within the Chatzichalar Park of the Municipality of Larissa. There, we were warmly welcomed by Mr. Konstantinos Kalogiros, Deputy Mayor of Green Spaces, Mr. Charalampos Manousios, Acting Head of the Department of Urban and Suburban Greenery, and Mr. Panagiotis Papageorgiou, Agricultural Technologist. With simplicity and clarity, they introduced us to the principles and guidelines of tree planting, highlighting the significance of this symbolic act for both the environment and the city.
With enthusiasm and a deep sense of responsibility, each partner school planted its own tree, which now stands adorned with a plaque bearing the school’s name — a living symbol of our collaboration and a green signature left in Larissa to remind us of this meaningful meeting and the overarching theme of our Erasmus project. Each tree represents a message: of hope, cooperation, and enduring care for the environment, as well as unity between our school communities. An especially moving moment was shared when students from Liceo Scientifico “E. Fermi” in Sciacca and SOŠ polytechnická from Zlaté Moravce were able to revisit the trees planted by their former classmates back in 2019, during a previous Erasmus project. These trees had grown and blossomed — just like the friendships and partnerships that continue to flourish between our schools.
Our day continued in the picturesque village of Pournari, where nature and tradition blend in perfect harmony. There, we visited the organic soap workshop run by Mrs. Asimenia Chatzipanagiotou. Under her expert guidance, the students actively participated in the soap-making process, creating their own natural soaps from pure ingredients, with love, skill, and profound respect for the environment. The visit concluded with a delightful culinary experience, as we enjoyed the handmade pies prepared by Mrs. Menis in her blooming garden.
The exploration did not stop there! Our next stop led us to a unique and inspiring place: Cob – Building with Earth. In this environmentally harmonious setting, the students participated in a hands-on workshop on the creation of organic toothpaste. Here, they learned how to care for their personal health using natural and pure raw materials — always with respect for both people and the planet.
After a day rich with experiences and beautiful moments, the group returned to Larissa, where the host families awaited the students with the warmth and heartfelt hospitality for which Greek homes are so well known.
The evening reserved yet another special moment: all participants gathered once again at the school to prepare the farewell party. Surrounded by laughter, emotion, music, dance, and countless shared memories, we celebrated the friendships, partnerships, and human connections that blossomed through this program — an experience that transcended borders and languages, bringing together people united by shared values and dreams.
It was a day destined to remain engraved in our hearts — a day full of life, learning, joy, friendship, and love for nature.
