1. How did the idea of a sustainable classroom emerge?
The final outcome of the Erasmus+ project “Shaping the Future Together – Contributing to a Sustainable World and Managing Change” was the creation of a sustainable classroom at our school, where we could carry out lessons and various activities. Our goal was to create an environment that is healthy, modern, and environmentally friendly.
For this classroom, we selected a space that previously housed an old, rarely used library, which made it ideal for transformation into a sustainable learning environment.
2. Description of the process
The classroom had to be renovated in order to meet the requirements of a modern and sustainable learning space. The following measures were implemented:
- Cleaning the classroom, as it contained books and old furniture
- Painting the classroom with eco-friendly paints
- Installing blinds on the glass wall to prevent disturbances from the adjacent corridor
- Installing energy-saving radiators
- Purchasing sustainable furniture
- Installing a heat recovery ventilation system – since the classroom has no windows, it was equipped with a modern system to ensure fresh air circulation
3. Final result and use of the sustainable classroom
The sustainable classroom has developed into a modern, nature-oriented, and environmentally friendly learning space. It serves as:
- A space for teaching and presentations
- A space for project meetings within Erasmus+ projects
- A space for student council meetings
- A space for presenting Erasmus+ projects during Open Day
- A space for workshops and thematic meetings on sustainability
